NoCap is an AI-powered fact-checking tool. This policy describes how the NoCap website and Chrome extension handle data.
When you use the NoCap Chrome extension or website, the URL of the article you submit is sent to our backend server. The server fetches the article content at that URL and passes it to an AI model to generate a credibility report. The resulting report (article metadata and credibility score) is stored in our database and displayed publicly on this site.
We do not collect your name, email address, IP address, browsing history, or any other personally identifiable information.
Submitted URLs and their generated reports are used solely to provide the credibility analysis service. Reports are stored and displayed on the NoCap website so users can browse previously analyzed articles.
Article content is analyzed using AWS Bedrock (Amazon Web Services). Reports are stored in AWS DynamoDB via AWS AppSync. No data is sold or shared with any other third parties.
The NoCap Chrome extension requests the activeTab permission to read
the URL of the current tab when the popup is opened. This URL is sent to the NoCap
backend API to perform analysis. No other tab data, browsing history, or page
content is accessed by the extension directly.
Generated reports are stored indefinitely to build a public database of analyzed articles. No mechanism currently exists to request deletion, as no personal data is associated with any report.
